Opinions of TALL wall units in kitchen

Hi All
Messing about with Ikea kitchen layouts for next project and I'm tempted to go for the 1000mm wall units, which obviously go fully to ceiling height, but still give same clear worktop space.
Pros ...
Hides away the flue from boiler installed in one cabinet
Makes full use of available storage area
No need to decorate wall above units
No need to clean tops of units
Cons
Only very tall people or those with extra long arms will reach top shelf, so unused space in reality.
Harder to clean the higher area of door
Possible creating claustrophobia in 3.25 x 2.5 kitchen
More expensive to buy than smaller units
What do other Moneysavers think?
Thanks in advance

If they're light coloured doors then claustrophia will be less of an issue.
Another drawback though is you can't put lights on top of the wall units to wash the ceiling with light, which can be a very attractive effect.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
You always have a load of junk you rarely use. Perfect for the top of tall cupbiards...Je suis sabot...0

Additional Pros.
Save money on overpriced cornice.
Save money on useless lighting features0 -
I like the look of the tall units, but as i'm only five foot, i need a chair even for a normal wall unit!! But i think the tall ones look neater in a kitchen.0

I have tall units and will have in my new kitchen, too. Mine don't reach the ceiling, being some 6" short, but I prefer them, especially after seeing a computer plan for a standard unit layout. They won't completely cover the flue of the new boiler, but I'm having a removable 'box' to cover the top, while allowing service access.
I'm only 5' 2'' so use the top shelves for rarely used items, spare light bulbs etc.0
