Converting to gas from solid fuel

Hi everyone,
We have been thinking about converting our (very) old solid fuel central heating and Parkray fire to gas.
But wondered if anyone on here knew roughly how much we might have to budget and what kind of work is involved, before we start getting quotes from peeps.
The fire runs 7 rads and heats the water too. We have to use the immersion heater for hot water during the summer.
Many thanks

If it's a very old system then it may not be immediately suitable to easy conversion to a new gas boiler.
Most modern systems have unvented radiator circuits, and old rads and pipes can fail under the increased pressure. The old pipes and radiators may be full of crud, and if it's a single pipe system that may not be compatible with new boilers.
To comply with energy efficiency Building Regs you may have to fit thermostatic radiator valves and a new insulated hot water cylinder.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
I think another poster called Lee is doing this , via green deal or ECO, look down the energy board to see the thread about it. Sorry not sure how to copy link from tab.0

Is mains gas close? Get a quote for a gas connection. Before doing anything else.

Hi,
Thanks for replies.
Gas is close, all neighbours have it.
We're in Castleford if anyone knows of any decent companies who will give us a proper quote, would much appreciate it.
Thanks.0
