laying loft insulation OVER chipboard flooring?

Hello All,
We live in a 1930s semi, which has minimal loft insulation, covered with a flooring of chipboard sheets. As the sheets will be difficult and messy to remove, and as we don't store anything up there any way,
Would it still give good insulation values, to lay the new insulation on TOP of the flooring.
As we may also be having cavity wall installation, does anyone have any views as to the better option, of blown fibres, or polystyrene granules.
Thanks in anticipation,
Dave.

I thought someone would have known!
I was hoping to do the loft tomorrow.
Thanks all the same.0 -
The In-laws had free British Gas insulation, and I believe they laid the insulation over the boarding. Apparently it works. Remember to leave a gap at the edges so the house can still breathe!4.7kWp (12 * Hyundai S395VG) facing more or less S + 3.6kW Growatt inverter + 6.5kWh Growatt battery. SE London/Kent. Fitted 03/22 £1,025/kW + battery £24950

I put space blankets on top of my floored loft and it seems to have done a good job.
This isn't me and this loft has no floor ..But it is what I did.0 -
It will be fine over the boarding as long as there is not a void under the boarding that allows outside air to blow through, if there is the new insulation will be next to useless. Don't leave a un insulated area of ceiling around the edge, this will just cause condensation on the ceilings at the edges of the rooms. But you must leave a gap at the eaves for air to flow into the loft space.
Start the job early tomorrow as it will get very hot in a loft space being baked by the sun.
Poly bead is better than fibre, you really want the graphite poly bead it gives better insulation.
If you are staying in the house for 10 plus years consider WALLTITE this a foam insulation but you won't get a grant for it. It a better yet insulation and improves air tightness.0
