I ordered my old statements from an old closed Barclays account which is where all my financial difficulties started and was horrified to see that they had taken £600 of charges from me in less than 1 year! Following the template on here Ive written up my letter and got my proofs and have sent off my letter to Barclays, Ive also asked for them to reimburse the interest, oh well I thought if you dont ask you dont get! Fingers crossed anyway and Ill let you know how I get on!

What is more horrific is that you didnt know this despite being in financial difficulties.
I wish you luck but bank charge refunds on hardship criteria tend to refer to current financial hardship and not historic. You will need some strong goodwill from Barclays to succeed.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. I sent a letter to all my creditors after reading the article on MSE and requested a refund of all charges after I contacted them in relation to starting a DMP. Several knocked the fees of my balance. Barclays said they hadn't charged me for an missed payments but sent me a cheque for £50 due to the distress caused by having to send a letter of complaint to them. I'll use the £50 to pay a little more off my outstanding balances.0
