New Call's Primus Saver

Does anyone know anything about New Call phone and broadband who have recently moved into Northern Ireland. They are coming up really cheap but I know nothing about them. Can anyone help before I commit myself.

i've been with them for several years , never had a problem with them , when they had their customer service in indiai called them with a line fault , this was over xmas with loads of snow on the ground , 2 hrs later there was a bt engineer round to fix it
i've just got a bb, line rental and unlimited calls deal for £18p/m

i guess you will always hear horror stories about any company , but people normally only shout if they aren't happy with the service

the customer service is now uk based

Got connected on the 11th of July 2014 having signed up to their Primus Saver 38Mb unlimited fibre broadband with free evening and weekend calls for £8 a month plus line rental for the first 3 months (rising to £16 per month). Its an 18 month contract. The first 2 weeks your on standard broadband which came in at 4mb,( 2.5mb slower than TalkTalk who I was with previously) while you wait for a BT Openreach engineer to install the 'additional' router. The BT engineer explained that you don't actually get a fibre line installed to your house, you still use the existing copper line along which they are able to send a high speed download signal. He only fitted a new socket with built in filter and connected a second old style router via Ethernet cable to the router Primus supply when you sign up. So you run two separate routers with separate power supplies. I was able to download at 36mb which was a bonus as they had said I would only get 29.4mb. The Fibre BB service 'so far' has been good, not perfect as I have had 3 or 4 disconnections lasting from a few seconds to a couple minutes, but overall the download speed is a stable 34 to 36mb.

However, when I checked my online account I discovered I had been charged for three evening calls which should have been free. When I contacted Primus Customer Service, after a very long wait before they answered the phone, I spoke to a young lady who sounded a bit 'dim' and I got the impression that she may have been the office cleaner who just happened to be next to the phone when it rang. To cut a long story short, I managed get her to understand the problem and she said they would look into it. I checked my account a week later (as she had advised) and the error had been corrected.
But the SAGA continues as when my first bill became due, they appear to have added advanced charges for August as it was (is) twice the amount I was expecting. I decided to not contact them yet, but it is very confusing, instead I am waiting for my next bill to see if it has balance out.

One other point, Primus no longer appear to be offering Fibre from their website. All very strange. So if you do sign, be sure to check your online bills.
