PPI Egg/BarclayCard

Hi,
Me and the Mrs are looking to claim PPI on our Egg cards. My Egg card was closed over 5 years ago, I believe my wife's was the same.
What I am wondering (I know that BarclayCard took over Egg), how far can you claim back for, I believe I got my Egg card in 2004.
When I spoke to a guy at BarclayCard he said that he was unable to help as all information is deleted after so many years.
I have a feeling that my wife may be owed quite a substantial amount.
Has anybody had a similar experience, all help would be appreciated.
Kind regards.

There is no time restriction on going back with credit cards/banks. However, the further back you do go, the more chance that documentation no longer exists. When I spoke to a guy at BarclayCard he said that he was unable to help as all information is deleted after so many years.
Which is not an unexpected outcome as firms often only retain data for around 6 years. If you dont believe them (or its possible the front line staff dont have access to older data that may be filed manually) then you can pay £10 each and do a data subject access request.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). No-one is owed anything. You make a complaint of misselliing ad see what happens.
Egg sol their card over the interenet for the most part and the boxes were not pre-ticked after [personally I reckon] about 2001..they have been fined for selling over the phone at a later date so your purchase may fall into either category.
You have to complain to Egg for their PPI and Barclaycard for theirs. Barclaycard only keep 6 years worth of statements, Egg most likely have all of the info.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
