    OK thanks.

So if the bottom of the flap should be at cat-belly height then a step is definitely needed the other side as it'll be nearer 17" above ground level.

Presumably this is a builders job and the step/ramp the other side should be pemanent unless a removable ramp is suitable? I only have access rights to the land the other side so might be a sticking point with the people downstairs to build on it.
  • Quite tempted by the Pet Porte microchip flap but there is a problem with getting the power supply down to the hallway. Why can't they do it with batteries?

I guess next best is the magnetic flap but have heard that other cats can get in easily. Haven't seen too many cats in this area but maybe that's a false sense of security?

I've ordered one of those from ebay- its held up in the post somewhere!
Loads of cats down my street so got this specifically because there is less chance of any having the same collar key!

Then I'm going to act all pathetic and get my neighbour to help fit it for me!

Our kittens been out for the first time this afternoon, he is 5 months- just had 2nd jabs and is getting spayed in a week and a half- he's been couped up for 6 weeks having had a free run of the garden at the cat rescue place so was really feeling imprisoned and its difficult not to follow him and worry-we live at the bottom of a cul-de-sac and he's been hiding in hedges and sussing out the neighbours already.
The good this is when a car set off he charged straight home so he knows where to go!

try these http://http://www.petdoorsonline.co.uk/index.html they are based in st phillips bristol so if you live near its as easy to go and pick it up as have it posted they also do all the spare parts quite reasonably
  • there's a cat round here who's got a cat flap fitted in the kitchen window(cut into the double glazing itself),just an ordinary window sill height. It lies sunning itself, half in and half out of the cat flap.

My dog killed my catflap. (Strangely a large labrador can't fit through a catflap:rotfl: )
We now have a catflap size draft in our kitchen. I would repair the flap but I think the dog will kill it again! does anyone have an idea of how I can cover this and still let the cat out?
Only two big facts are known for certain: you are on a large, spinning rock hurtling through lonely space at about 67,000 mph, and one day your body is going to die. Will a new pair of shoes really help? :p
