Admiral Insurance - Question

Hi, I was unfortunate to get first 3 points on my license in 30 years of driving, (I think most people will be getting points the way the Police are acting!!), so like a good boy called my insurance company, and low and behold slap me with a £22.48 bill. That is with Admiral.

However I have another car, so told the insurance company about my points and they said no charge. That insurance company is More Than.

Are Admiral conning me, or just making a fast buck?

Also, I notice that my points stay with me for 3 years....not for the insurance companies, you have to declare them when renewing for 5 years...why?

Hi think yourself lucky. For my 2 SP30's Hastings wanted 60% extra.Needless to say I told them to shove it and went to Liverpool Victoria who don't load for minor convictions. In short though each company can set its own rules and some of the mean B******* do load for one SP30.

Yes, but that's OK because you can then choose not to renew. They've got you over a barrel mid-term.

David, it's "LO and behold" not "LOW". :@

Thanks guys, yes it was only a SP30, More Than have not only NOT charged extra for current premium, but as it due for renewal in May asked them to quote me, and again have NOT increased my new premium. So thumbs up to More Than. And a Pi.. off to Admiral when that comes up for renewal.

With the elections (yawn) coming up, which party is going to tackle these conning, fiddling insurance companies, they get away with too much for too long, they need stopping.

An update - I was so angry at the tone of the woman at Admiral, and of course the charge, so I wrote an angry email on the Admiral website, just had this reply:-

"Please accept my apologies for the error made regarding your motoring conviction. We have removed the charge of £22.48, however, this will be rated on and charged for at your renewal date (30.09.05). Please be assured that no payments have been applied for from your credit card details."

Error my foot, just trying to keep me sweet, but Admiral, bye bye, will find someone else next time!!

Interesting that they should call it an error, David, rather than just a goodwill waiver.
