Missed period, arrrgg!

Options
First of all I use this site a lot but also use that same username elsewhere, hence the newbie status :)
Anyway, my period is late and it's driving me mad!
Last period was on 1st May, I'm not totally regular but usually 28-34 day cycle
Had a mishap on 18th may, took Ella one approx 38 hrs later, with no problem
But I have still not had a period :/ I've taken a few pregnancy tests that were completely negative both at home and the doctors, had to have a colcoscopy on tues too and they wanted to make sure, that was embarrassing as I had to provide a sample but had great difficultly :rotfl:
Went to docs yesterday and she said I could just miss a period and that's more than likely the cause and not to worry, easier said than done!
No real symptoms as such, my boobs are a bit tender but that sometimes happens with pmt and they seem to be less tender that a week or so ago when they were worryingly sensitive.
Being pregnant wouldn't be the end of the world but it's not ideal, single mum currently and that time I married first but it still went tits up!
The father may or may not be around so he doesn't know yet but if I am then he obviously will be told and we'll discuss it but we don't have a relationship as such
Has anyone else been in this situation at all and any advice?

Emergency contraception is normally effective but it can also disrupt your cycles, so that's probably the cause of your missed period. Pregnancy tests are also very reliable if taken after a missed period.

There are plenty of reasons why a woman can miss a period, apart from pregnancy.

If the tests are coming back negative, I wouldn't worry too much.

i agree with the above posters, the morning after pill does tend to disrupt your cycle. i wouldnt worry too much about it to be honest, if you dont get your period next month then take another test

Ellaone does mess up cycle n is uber effective I wouldn't worry until you have missed another period then ask gp for further tests.

All sorts of things can upset your cycle, and worrying about it could be delaying it further. Being intentionally flippant, if you really want it to arrive, pit on some pretty new white knickers - absolutely guaranteed!

    I've been Money Tipped!
What do you expect anyone to say?

Everyone is different so their experience will be different from yours.

You've taken tests, seen a GP, had a test before your investigation... so what else do you want a bunch of strangers to tell you?

    it's a waiting game, that's all.

My advice, in future use two forms of contraception if you want to be sure of not getting pregnant (rather than rely on catching up the morning after a 'mishap').

Thanks guys, I'm only after experiences tbh, nothing else I can do but wait, but hearing others have gone through similar helps :)
As for contraception I struggled with cerazette for 9 months but really didn't get on with it and was giving my body a break til I decided the best course of action,
I was going to have the coil fitted as an emergency until they said that with the colcoscopy they may have to take it out again for treatment so I went with the Ellaone, not taken it before so wasn't sure how it affects things, it does say periods may be a few days late but mines almost 2 weeks.

try not to panic, I used to have a female friend who claimed she hadn't had her period for 6 months due to over-exhaustion and stress, there are many reasons you can miss it, if the tests are negative, don't worry yourself unduly.

If you go on the conception forum you will read that it is almost unheard of to be two weeks late so for calculation purposes 6 weeks pregnant and not have a positive test. That especially since your symptoms have lessen when it would be expected they increase. Any disturbance to ovulation will affect your cycle.

The boob thing is defiantly a plus as it was the first and few symptoms I noticed when I was pregnant with dd, so panicked me a bit! Will just have to try and keep myself occupied for a week or two :D
