Bank transfer - money not received

Hi,

Got a bit of a problem with a bank transfer. My mate sent me some cash via bank transfer. I checked my account today and the cash hasn't gone into my account - transfer was made 6 days ago. The money has however gone out of my mates account.

We checked the details he used and they were my details to the letter. He phoned his bank and they said the money had gone out and to check my bank. I phoned my bank and they said the problem was at his end. Can anyone give me any advice on what we should do? Neither of us want to play bank ping pong.

Cheers in advance

Rob

See the similar today's thread: BACS payment evaporated - how can we chase it?

How have you checked the details? I hope it was what he can see online, not some piece of paper.

I meant the details of where the money went to.

Tell your mate you have not received any money from him.

Perhaps you can show him your bank account as he seems happy to show you his.

There was something new launched on Monday kind of like a direct debit indemnity, where the initiating bank fills in a form to re claim the money back, it takes 24 days, i have not had to fill one in a yet so not sure of the full procedure but the bank who sent the money should be doing an investigation

The initiating bank always had an obligation to trace 'lost' correct payments.

What you possibly mean is help with recovering erroneous payments: Sent money to the wrong bank account? You’ll soon get more help getting it back
