Council Housing Issues

I have lived in my 2 bedroom council flat since 1991, it has now been reclassified as a 1 bedroom as the smallest room is below a certain size. Can you advise if I should go about asking for some money back as I have been paying for a 2 bedroom.
Thank You.
Thank You.

What is the difference between what you are paying now and what you were paying before it was reclassified?

my imiediate feeling is that you should think about taking advice from www.rentservice.gov.uk
Who has reclassified your property, was it the council's housing dept, the rent service, environmental health - someone else? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
pcwilkins - my payments have only gradually increased year after year inline with inflation ofcourse, it was never amended after reclassification. I hope this answers your question
lynzpower - the housing department have reclassified the flat0 -
So you're not paying any less now for a 1 bedroom flat than you were for 2 bedroom flat?
How much less do you think you should be paying? What's the average rent for a 1 bedroom flat in the area and how does it compare to your rent?

If you speak to your local housing department they should be able to tell you what the differnce is. If not the rent service will certainly be able to tell you.
