Hi!!!
I hope you can help me because I 'm going crazy!!:((
My situation is as follow:
I left Uk in 2008 with 350 pounds overdraft, which I was willing to pay even afet I left. So when I came back to UK for holidays (December 2009) I went to the bank and told them my situation. I gave them my new address in Spain and I paid a couple of fees until I notcide I was just paying interests without being able to clear my debts. So I just dropped it and stop paying. I received letters from debts collectors but I never replied.
Now I'm moving back to England and on my credit check it shows that my bank account with Barclays is still open, but that all the payments were made on time
So I am confused....
Do you think I could open a brand new account with another bank pretending nothing happened, or will they put me in jail if I tell them?? Or shall I just open a basic bank account?? HELP pleeeease
Thanks in advance

You certainly won't be going to jail for it, consumer credit is a civil issue not criminal there is zero possibility of jail.
I would open a new bank account with another bank to start.
It may be that at some point the bank or debt collectors will start to chase you for the outstanding debt - and if they do so then at that point you might need to reach a repayment agreement with then, or possibly offer a sum in full settlement if you can afford to do so.
The worst that could happen (and it isn't very likely) is that they may obtain a CCJ against you for the debt.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Certainly no Jail hahahaha, I am speaking as someone who would know as well so please do not worry, open another account. I doubt very much they would chase you everywhere for £350. Morally I would pay it back and ask for the interest maybe to be droppedI love green dots :T I hate red dots :mad:0
