Curtains - double brackets and 19mm poles

I moved into a flat which has thin beams of wood above the windows to put curtains up. The beam is only 40mm wide which means the IKEA brackets probably won't fit onto the beam. When I have searched on Google the best I can find is the occasional double bracket for two 19mm poles.
This leaves me wondering if 19mm poles would be strong enough for curtains or if they are likely to break with anything heavier than net curtains. The main problem is the stupid 40mm beam but I am trying to find an easy way out rather than attaching more wood above the window which will look awful.

If it looks awful and u don't like it, why not remove existing wooden beams and then both problems are solved.0

Like I said I was trying to find the easiest way of doing it without getting involved in DIY on my plasterboard walls.
For anyone else with the same issue I ended up buying these which have a 40mm diameter at the back.
It won't look great but will end up getting the job done I hope.0
