sudden drop in credit score experian

A few months back my experian credit score was 800 and classed as fair this is despite having a few defaults on my file that were 4 to 5 years old. The only pet credit I had at the tune we an over draft with my bank of 800 that was still in credit. There match rate said i was eligible for a capital 1 card so I applied and was accepted.
Checked my file this month and my score had dropped to 493 very poor.
Any ideas why?

Ignore the numbers.
You applied for a Capital One card and were accepted, Captial One provide the credit, not experian.0 -
Your credit score actually improved on my made up scale compared to last time. Sadly it is just about as accurate as Experian's.0
