Hob Splashback - Heat Resistent or just thick?

Hello

The wall behind my ceramic hob is tiled, and gets the odd spit from the frying pan or saucepan. To keep the tiles clean I want to put up a glass splash-back (about 570mm x 570mm). Wall to nearest 'ring' is 110mm.

Do I need heat resistant, strengthened, or just thick glass?
Best drilled, or not?

Looking for a safe but economical solution.

Thanks in advance for your responses ...

I'd advise you use a safety glass that's heat resistant with the edges ground and holes pre-drilled by a glazier. There's usually some heat bleed onto them depending on the pots/pans used, but not too bad. However, it's not worth taking the chance on an exploding glass for a few quid IMO.
