How long am I in support group for?

Hi, new here

I applied for esa for psychotic illness a few months back which my support worker suggested but I stopped claiming for it because my anxiety prevented me from being able to get to the doctors for sick notes. A month or two later I got a letter saying I was in 'support group' and i started getting money again, I didn't know what this was but i did a bit of research and i have an idea now but I was wondering is there any way to tell how long I'll be in support group for? If not, is there a minimum or maximum amount of time people are in support group?

thanks in advance

The standard award appears to be for 1 year. Certainly I receive my ESA50 renewal just prior to Xmas every year.

    Hi :)

I was put in the support group for 2 years, no medical. I think the max time allowed is 3 years. There is a number you can ring, again, I think it is the number shown on the letter you received informing you that you are in the SG, and you can ask how long you've been awarded for. At least that's my experience (except the call itself, which I couldn't make)

There are many on here far far more extensive in their knowledge and I'm sure someone else will be along to help :)

hope this helps a little, congratulations on getting in the SG by the way, it is a massive relief!

I am surprised it's not on the award letter. My date was & it was for exactly 3 years to the date of my WCA. If you cannot phone can you get some to ring for you & then give DWP permission to speak to them.

My husband was placed in for 2 years and it was stated on the award letter.
I think the standard is 12 months although I've heard of people only being awarded it for 3 months at a time before needing to attend another WCA.

Congrats on being awarded, it shouldn't be a 'congratulations' but on past experiences I know it's very difficult to pass these 'medicals'.

i have been plaxed in the WRAF twice ( once without a medical) and then transferred to the support group without asking ( i assume it was based on a DLA upgrade).
i have never been given a length of time in a letter and have always had to phone to find out.
I still havent had a letter telling me i am in the support group ( i was put in support group around the end of october). i only found out because my benefit increased and i received a housing benefit letter about a change of circumstances saying ' because you receive the support element of ESA...@
i didnt even receive the yearly benefit increase letter!
the DWP work in mysterious ways ....

They do - don't they! I must have been lucky as I got the up rating letters for both ESA/DLA although I was in hospital ATT. DLA suspended for 10 weeks.
