Online car quote system annoyances

Options
General moan  sorted out my insurance for another year, so I thought !!

Renewal came through, did the comparison sites to see whether it was worth renewing or going elsewhere and also did a fresh quote with my current insurer to find the price 20% cheaper than their renewal quote. I checked with my insurers online chat helper on why it was cheaper which only response was it's ok to take the new policy but if you're on auto renewal (which I've not) then to phone up to tell them not to auto renew.

Fast forward to today and my new policy has come through the post, checking the confirmation sheet I notice multi-car discount is marked as included which is strange as mines the only car on the policy, doing a search it comes back that multi entertains a 20% discount so it's looking like what I thought was a good deal worth to hassle of taking a new policy and sending NCD proof will probable have been a wasted hassle as I suspect I'm not entitled to the discount and being insurance I can't ignore as it could make my policy invalid :T

I've gone through my insurances online quote this evening to figure out if I've made a mistake and I think I've answered to questions correctly as asked. There's a question on whether you have other car policies with the insurer, is you select yes it asks for details (I know I put no), on the form it's got down under 'Total no cars at home' as 2, which I wondered if this was the trigger for the multi-car discount. The question for this is 'How many cars are in your household' which I'm correctly marked 2 even though the other is with another insurer. If this question is for them to determine multi-car discount then it's annoying that the question isn't explicit - ie 'How many cars in the household should be associate to this quote'

Before I accepted the quote it didn't state that the quote includes a MC discount, the email confirmation after acceptance doesn't mention it although mentions the no-claims discount.

So job for tomorrow to phone up insurer to query this :(

    A lot happier now :)

Called my insurer up and they've confirmed the multi car discount being included is correct and based on number of cars in household, discount is given as they consider it a better risk and a little sweeter to consider insuring the other car with them but is not a conditional for taking the insurance and having this discount

My old policy wasn't auto-renewal and they've switched it off for my new policy
