Reclaiming CPP question

Hi
First post so apologies if I have posted this in the wrong part of the site.
I had a CPP policy that started in 1989 and covered 2 credit cards (B/Card and MBNA). I took it out as I thought it would cover transactions if the cards were lost or stolen. I never had to make a claim and cancelled the policy in 2009 when i realised how much it was costing.
As the reason for me taking out the policy predated the compensation period of 2005 onwards am I still ok to claim? Do they just pay compensation from 2005 (if approved) or can you only claim if the policy was started after 2005?
Hope some kind soul can advise.
Many thanks

So as it was started prior to 2005 I can't claim to CPP? It was renewed automatically by CPP each year after then until 2009. I did get sent a claim pack from CPP so thought that meant they considered me to have a claim.
the quote from MSE site says:
If you had a policy sold before 2005, but that was renewed after 2005, you'll form part of the scheme explained above.
Are claims to the likes of MBNA and B/card likely to operate to the same standards? Ie. are they more likely to just say no with no comeback? Any instances of the credit card Cos. paying out?
Many thanks for your valuable advice.0 -
Not for anything prior to 2005So as it was started prior to 2005 I can't claim to CPP?
So you should be able to claim post 2005.I did get sent a claim pack from CPP so thought that meant they considered me to have a claim.
As above, only post 2005.the quote from MSE site says:
If you had a policy sold before 2005, but that was renewed after 2005, you'll form part of the scheme explained above.
I'm not sure what you mean by "standards"? If you present either with a robust mis-selling complaint then you should get a refund. Are claims to the likes of MBNA and B/card likely to operate to the same standards?0 -
Thanks, guess I just expect banks to crap on me!
Cheers, much appreciated!0
