Rediculous tax credits helpline

Ive recently moved house, all i want to do is change my address, rang tax credits to let them know ........ Thought it would be straightforward.

I was wrong.....

Ive now rang them 8 times in the last three days, each time the automated service takes all my info, even my national insurance number, 6 minuites into the call im told " were too busy, please call back .....goodbye"

im not happy, do they not want to know my address?? Is this 0345 contact number costing me each time i ring??

Anyone else having issues???

Try 01355 359007, I got through within a minute on this number.
    Raven. :grinheart:grinheart:grinheart

  • I had to ring them the other day - each time I went round in circles as the automated voice didn't give me the options relevant to my enquiry - so I picked the nearest one - then it said as the operators were busy to call back later - goodbye! This happened 3 times.
However, I persevered, and eventually I got a ring tone and was put in a queue, and eventually someone answered. That person was very understanding and I was able to explain my problem quickly - he was on my side and agreed with my point of view, and sorted out the issue. He also gave directions on what to do next and contact details for sorting out other aspects of the problem - very helpful. So persevere!

General question... Can changes for tax credits be reported by letter or does it have to be phone?

Mine always seems to come in July, cutting it fine to turn it around & for TC to realize they've received it by 31/7. Makes it more exciting, I suppose :D.

As I was self employed for many years I'd always got a good idea of what I'd earned so had all the details ready to complete the renewal pack - I know everyone's details are different, but maybe collating everything in advance will help (if you can?).

I don't know whether this time will be different as I haven't needed to claim childcare for this year.
& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin :D

Nothing new..... I spent near enough 30 minutes on the phone before anyone answered and that was just to re new the tax credits.... what a joke
  • I have had to ring them at least 6 times in the last week or so as my renewal papers did not turn up.

Each time i had a long wait, not suprised at all given its that time of year again for renewal. Anyway, todays wait was 25+ mins until i got an answer, then it was just a small phone call of less than 2 minutes.

If my renewal form had turned up then i could have done it online. Kind bugs that they do not take on more temps during times they anticipate will be busy, i am sure they would have people queuing miles for a job even a temp one, people would jump at the chance.

So i have spent well over 2 hours this week on hold and had to ring back at later date as i could not wait any longer and had to go.
