32" LCD TV for use as PC monitor

I looked at this and it pretty much comes down to: Resolution (as high as possible - providing it is compatible with gfx card), Connectivity DVI/HDMI. Again providing your gfx card supports HDMI. And you also need sound connectivity if you intend to use the TVs speakers (Jacks/Digital or HDMI again)
I gave up on the idea though - I'd rather hook up a projector and have a full 3D cinema.Faith is believing what you know ain't so...0 -
Most LCD Tv's in the 32" and 37" range have a default screen resolution of 1366x768 (it's all to do with a 1MB framebuffer within the TV)
It's perfectly possible to hook up your computer, however I wouldn't work on a screen that big on my desk. But there are fine sat about 3 foot away.
It's important to get a LCD that does 1:1 pixel mapping, otherwise your max resolution will be 1280x768 and then scaled to 1366x768, losing definition and creating blurriness. You graphics card needs to be able to output 1360x768 ,most can be tweaked to provide this resolution using powerstrip if not available within the supplied drivers. Most laptops will auto detect the TV's and run at the max correct resolution, as they are designed to be plugged into more random monitors and projectors.
I use my MacBook on Hannspree JT01-32E2 and it's pixel sharp.
Thanks for that kinesin, I went for the JT01-32E2 on your reccomendation, It has some cracking reviews on Ebuyers site too.

Can anyone recommend a decent 37inch to use for both PC surfing and as a TV. I was thinking about the following, due to make and price.

Well, It arrived this morning, & I'm like a dog with two "you-know-whats" (the wifes words, not mine). :j
I have to say, I'm well impressed so far, I attached it via the enclosed VGA cable, set the input to PC & away she went:
That's a 17" CRT next to it, to give you some idea of the size!!
I'm away for the weekend now, so I'll get to really play with it next week!
I'm using it on an XP media Centre PC with the GeForce FX5200 256Mb card.Women priests. Great. Now there's priests of both sexes I don't listen to - Bill Hicks.0 -
Just need to get yourself something like the WinTV PVR1300 and you're sorted.0

Thanks zacspeed, that looks very impressive
. Good man, you were true to your word
.
Did you enable ClearType btw? Does text look anywhere as clear as on your CRT monitor?
I am very tempted to get one (OK, for the future anyway), but the clarity of text is very important to me & how good modern(ish) PC games run to some extent. G0 -
Didn't know anything about clear type until I clkicked on your link Goofy :rotfl:
I ran the clear type wizard & things seem fine with it turned on or off. It's easily as clear as on my old CRT.
I'm running at 1360 x 768 & it looks fantastic. I've had to knock down the brightness a touch though.Women priests. Great. Now there's priests of both sexes I don't listen to - Bill Hicks.0
