Selling my car, any tips?
Options
Hi guys,
Putting my car on the market this evening, used to go through TCB and get 25% off autotrader but its now only 10% so would cost £51 after cashback to list for 6 weeks (I prefer this way as you get preference in the search listings and I can start the price a bit higher and lower if there is no interest).
Does anyone know of a better way to sell cars? I know there is eBay and pistonheads but feel that autotrader gets the most exposure.
Do any of you have any tips on how to make the advert stand out/appeal to potential buyers?
Thanks everyone.

Lots of cars on Gumtree here. I sold there recently free of charge. I was on the lookout for a Focus as well and noticed the same ones were constantly being recycled, so there probably aren't as many cars on there as it first appears.0

Ebay. Never had any problems buying or selling cars.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

I've heard some bad things about gumtree to be fair. Have you ever had a problem with using it? i've put it on autotrader as I don't mind paying if it gets me a decent result. Only problem is it makes you bunch all of the text up, which with it being online seems a bit pointless? Not great for the reader!0

I've only used it twice. Both times were relatively low value vehicles. First time I bought a Rover 45 from an auction for £440, ran it 10 months, MOTd it, put it on Gumtree for £700 and got £650 cash for it within 3 hours.
Second time was an odd vehicle which was difficult to price. I advertised it, got no response, dropped it by several hundred and got an offer within a week. Price was probably fair.
I'm quite confident in selling for cash though.
I certainly think there are a lot of scams on there but there are scams using every channel.0 -
No matter where you sell it there will be scammers trying to remove it from you for nothing.
Its view the car and pay cash on collection or ignore them.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
