Dubious dealings by Scottish Power
Options
We have our electricity with Scottish Power and have had for many years. We usually get an Annual Statement but this year nothing. We phoned and were told they are not sending them anymore but our problem is we never get a bill from them so the statement is our only way of knowing what our usage is or what we are being charged per kilowatt.
We are both pensioners and our heating costs are very high as we don't have mains gas in this area and have to heat by Oil and cook with LPG. We need to know our Electricity usage so that we can monitor things throughout the year. Surely we are entitled to have some record of usage and charges and are we being fobbed off. We pay a monthly fee to them by Direct Debit.

Can you not access your bills / usage etc online ???0
-
You can see your usage from your meter.
They will be able to tell you the tariff and fees on the phone.
You will have access to online bills - you managed to find your way here after all!0 -
you say

That suggests you are on the most expensive Standard Tariff .0 -
All suppliers have to give you a yearly statement but if you are not getting bills that is different. Check out other suppliers that will bill you.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0

Thanks to all you answered my problem I much appreciate you all taking time to help. We do have access to an online account but it doesn't give us all the info that the yearly statement gave us. It shows our monthly payments and our usage by a graph system but this is not what we want. The statement shows on the first page 'Last period with the balance from a previous statement plus payments received and either credit or debit. Next column shows 'This period with the same info and at the bottom your energy use in graph form.
Over the page is where the info we want is shown and we cant get that from the online info. It show things like the meter no. Start and End readings - Units used then the charges per kilowatt plus the standing charge.
The third page then shows 'Where does your money go graph'.
We do realise these things cost them money to produce but as they make lots of profit it shouldn't be a problem and its our only way of knowing what we are being charged. At the moment we are waiting to hear back if we can have that info sent by email which we would be happy with. Once again thank you all for trying to help.0 -
It's not everso difficult to do it yourself using the readings from your electricity & gas meters to work out how much you've used in kwh. Multiply that by the tariff (price per kwh), add on the standing charge and that will tell you how much you've used and how much you should pay. You then deduct the amount that you've paid and that will tell you if you owe them or they owe you. It will also allow you to check your bills and make sure that they are correct and up to date.
If you want to be clever then put it on a spreadsheet and you could sort out your own graphs etc.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0
