I've just taken one out of my house because I'm going to have a new heating system installed. What should I do with the old one? Take it to the scrap merchant or what do you think? Thank you.

Take to the scrappy - worth good money.0

definitely take it to the scrappy. I'm sure I got £50+ for mine, plus I had lots of lead pipe too as I was having central heating install so replaced all the lead pipes at the same time.0

If you find a non-ferrous dealer, they may well pay more than a general dealer. Our local one paid an extra 30p/kg. They had different rates for tanks, pipes and pumps.0

I've just returned and they gave me £30 for it which I was a little dissapointed about since it was quite a large one. But thank you all for your advice.0

Scrap prices have gone down a bit lately that's why. Also did you take it down with all the insulation and stuff still on it or clean it all off???0

It was clean bar for a small amount of plastic which had stuck/melted to it. I read somewhere that the Chinese aren't buying as much of the stuff in recent times. Thanks.0

Copper prices are down. I can buy 30m of 15mm Yorkex for £48 from a large plumbing retailer , approx 30% drop in the last 3 monthsHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0
