EICR needed, what to look out for?

Hi guys,
Have finally got the keys to our new (old) house now. Want to get an EICR Asap. Have had a company based in Stockport quote us at approx £65 for the EICR (seems cheap?) but on top of this they have 100% positive reviews online. In addition they will quote us for additional work based on output of the EICR.
The people are NICEC approved (listed on their website).
Ideally I want everything to rated as safe and sound, and if not get it fixed so that it is, without hopefully redoing the entire electrics. Should be interesting though as there are some outdoor plug sockets and some custom wiring such as in the bathroom for a lighted mirror etc.
What else do I need to look out for in terms of certifications/approval of the electrician? And is a positive EICR sufficient to say my electrics are OK?
I recall reading something about Part-P and other stuff but I'm not really clued up on all the latest info.
As ever, help from the sages of MSE will be much appreciated.

in quick response, just watch out for cheap EICR's - the company may well try and claw back from a loss leader and give you a huge price for remedial works (some of which might not be necessary). You are allowed to use the EICR to get prices from other companies0

Cheers, the company does seem to have very solid online reviews... so will see. I have a fair bit to test so wouldnt mind paying a bit more.0 -
get a few quotes then and also see how you feel when you meet them for the quotes0

My biggest worry would be that they will "find" faults just so that they can charge you to fix them.
If I were getting an EICR, then I would rather it was on the basis that they did not have any expectation that I would go back to them to fix any faults. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
£65 is a crazy price - these things take hours to do.
For that price I assume it'll be carried out visuallypvoutput.org/intraday.jsp?id=39350&sid=359520 -
So the company sent a guy round today, he seemed pretty honest and said most things were in good order, no new rewiring needed. Fixed a couple of niggles I had too.
He did do a reasonable test making frequent trips to the Electric box and using his kit to test, but it was much less than a few hours... Awaiting the report on Monday to see the summary.0
