payment processed yet address incomplete

Hello all, I'm hoping this is a quick and easy one for someone! How important is the address information when making an online 'card not present' transaction? My organisation recently received a donation from a customer who noticed halfway through that his address was incomplete. The donation was made despite this. He has had a confirmation from paypal confirming it, and showing incomplete address details. Can anyone advise who is at fault here, if anyone, or is it standard practice that the address info isn't as important? Paypal received the payment for the organisation. I've been directed to quite a few links etc explaining payment processing however it isn't clear or jargon free enough for explanation. Many thanks.

If the payment has been authorised then nothing else needs to be done. Some companies check the address, some don't.
