Switched from Scottish power to Npower on 8/04/2014 and gave the end/start readings to Npower.A month later they sent me a bill using estimated start readings. I phone them with the correct readings and in the meantime SP send me an estimated bill. I ring SP and give them the correct readings but they still wont give me a correct bill. What is wrong with these companies? I have spent ages trying to speak to someone at SP but to no avail. Is there a Scottish Power Representative on this forum?

I have just switched from SP to First Utility & I am having the same issue.
I gave everybody actual readings & then for some stupid reason everything gets produced with ESTIMATED readings !!!
Thing is I have kept a record of all the readings AND the date I gave them to each company.
The whole system seems to be in meltdown !!

I had a similar problem moving into a house which has Scottish Power as a supplier and then switching to First Utility.

The initial readings I gave Scottish Power were repeatedly ignored and several incorrect bills were sent.

I have finally sorted out the problem 3 months after the switch when a correct bill was finally sent but I am still having to fend off the debt collectors Scottish power use.

The complaint is now with the ombudsman.

Basically the only part of Scottish Power's System which works is the process of demanding incorrect bills are paid and forwarding the details to debt collectors to chase. I now believe they rely on people being intimidated into paying inflated bills to boost their profits.

Its the new supplier who is responsible for taking their opening reads in your case Npower and passing them thru their change of supply dept thru the channels to scottish power, who will then bill you up to these reads. scottish power cant off their own back change their final bill. npower have to alter their opening reads and repass the reads over to scottish power for them to revise their final bill. this is to ensure you either pay twice for the same reads or not pay either company.
