O/S Daily Thread Wednesday 11th June 2014

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning all,

awake bright and early this morning. Millie dog needed to go outside and I'm wide awake.

Not sure what the day will bring but I know ive got Grandbaby when he has his afternoon nap. His Mummy is seeing the wedding planner.

Youngest will be awake soon and I can hear hubbies alarm going off. He is suffering in the heat on the building site.

Onwards and forwards,

have a great day all.

Morning all
Up at silly o'clock as I've been asked to start work early today, I've agreed on condition I get to take my time back later.
DD visited y'day with the twins, I fed one whilst she feed tother, she is still expressing & bottle feeding one as he is too small to BF yet, but the girl is BFing well.
Topsy, sorry to hear about DGS, hopefully his jaundice improves soon.
Molly, & Hilly, hugs
Snoozer, thank you, the fabric is lovely.
Hubby & I are visiting MIL on Saturday to see how she's doing & ensure SFIL is coping, he's of the generation that thinks housework/cooking etc is woman's work. I may make up some ready meals to take the pressure off MIL & I'll take some cake over too, silly things, but don't know what else to do. There is a lot of anger in the family as MIL's GP treated her for 9 months with antibiotics telling her she had a urinary infection!
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester
Chin up, Titus out.

Off to work in a minute , I've been rummaging in the cupboards and fridge trying to put some lunch together , looks like I need to go shopping , I have one slice of bread folded over some cream cheese , 1 cherry tomato and a smushed up cereal bar :D ,

I m currently waiting for my uniform to wash , I washed it last night , hung it up and this morning it smells fusty ??:(. So I've rewashed it and hope it dries in time

Have a good day everyone xx

Beautiful day here, hope it stays that way. Washing will go out in a minute, I am giving the throws from the settees a rinse through - DS2 insists on eating in the living room and drops stuff all over.

HH - I hope your MIL is pain free and you are all ok, hugs to you all. Make sure you get that time back!
Judi - What a lovely story, I am sure Soldier will appreciate all your DD and partner have and will do for him, especially the love he will receive from them and you.

Hugs to those not feeling too good, hope you recover soon.

Bit of a nothing day today, work and then nothing planned, still tired from taking DS2 to the airport yesterday morning at 5, had a better sleep last night so will go for an early night tonight.

JackieO - Hope the exams are going well. Take care. XX

Morning everyone

HH - so sorry to hear about MIL, hope they can keep her comfortable and pain free, hugs to you all x

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Now light, bright sunshine – looks like another dry warm day. Washing on the line.

DH up and getting ready for work at a more reasonable hour today!
Dinner last night was scampi, chips, beans and salad for the menfolk. I had fish, jacket potato and veg. I remembered to get pork chops out of the freezer for tonights dinner, but as it’s so warm I left them in the fridge and they are not defrosting very quickly have now transferred them to a large dish and recovered them – so hoping they will have defrosted by the time I need to use them.

Work was steadily busy again yesterday. Had some sad news, 1 of our colleagues who visits our office 1 day a week, is on a weeks holiday, they went last Friday and her husband passed away suddenly while they were away – such an awful shock for her, so thinking of her and her family x

Only working today until lunchtime, so will then come home and do all the normal chores, have the normal bills to pay. Rang tax credits last week with mine and DH’s final wages to year end April 2014, having tried to sort it earlier and being told I had to wait for the renewal pack which the advisor said had been posted to me over 2 weeks previously – at that point I hadn’t received it, and it still then didn’t arrive for another couple of days – did they send it by carrier pigeon or something? It took over 2 weeks to arrive??!! Had to wait for ages for someone to answer the phone too, was listening to recorded messages/music for nearly 30 minutes, but first time I phoned I waited over 40 minutes. Anyway yesterday a small amount of money has been put into my bank, and it’s showing as from tax credits, so I’m awaiting a letter advising what they are doing – but not holding my breath as it’ll be 2-3 weeks before it arrives!!??

I’ll be doing all the normal chores this afternoon.

Keep safe and well x

The freezers are a mess, I'm going to start going through them today. There are 11 drawers, four in the fridge freezer and seven in the big one. I'll do two drawers per day, more if I feel like it but I probably won't :D

Miss tru's blanket needs to be done by saturday. I need to do two more rounds then it should be big enough, if not I'll need to do another four on top of that.

The cherries have ripened so I'm munching my way through those. Most are OK, there's only a few split ones. I'll pick them earlier next year, now I know they'll ripen indoors. Hopefully I'll get a bigger share than the birds next time :D

Hester - so sorry to hear about your MIL - thinking of you all xx

Home until Sunday evening now. Feeling brighter I think - i didn't realise I was that anaemic as I had put a lot of my symptoms down to stress. Our bodies do fool us don't they?

It is our twentieth wedding anniversary today and we are going out for lunch so worked out well really. We have always been married but had a few months apart (when I joined MSE) but realised we loved each other very much. He is a star for all he does and puts up with xxx

Have an OS day with love and hugs x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
• MOLLY Many congratulations to you both, have a lovely meal.
