First National Mortgage and Black Horse ppi help

Hi All

Sorry if this is repeated but I really need some help.

I took a mortgage with First National via a broker in 2001 and re mortgaged to another lender in 2005. I am looking into the possibility of reclaiming PPI but I no longer have any documents or account details.

I understand that GE Money took over First National so my questions are:

1, do I contact GE Money
2, do I need my account or documents
3, is it worth buying my credit report

Also I had 2 personal loans with Black Horse in 2002 and 2003 but the Black Horse customer service agent told me they can't help as I no longer have any agreement numbers and they are archived. Is this correct, can they not dig this out with a SAR?

Thanks for any suggestions, my wife is off work ill with no pay.

Cheers

You would have to complain to the broker who sold you the PPI in 2001, but this is well prior to regulation (Jan 2005) and he won't have to even consider your complaint.
GE Money have no liability for a sale made by a broker.

no. They have no liability for the sale and wouldnt know what you had anyway.
2, do I need my account or documents

In this case, no. It is 4 years prior to regulation and most brokers did not have prior regulation (a small number did via the mortgage code but they would need to be trading today for that to apply).
3, is it worth buying my credit report

no. it wouldnt appear on there.

On the plus side, most MPPI complaints fail and most broker complaints fail. So, put the two together and the odds of success were very low.

That is a fairly common outcome. A SAR may turn up more information as it would check records that the front line staff may not have access to.

You need to send the SAR but it may come back with nothing.
