Lloyds/TSB account numbers

Hi All,

I've now seven accounts in total with Lloyds and TSB (6 current accounts and a monthly saver) and the account number of every single one ends with the same two digits! Is this just a coincidence or is there another explanation? Every time I open one it's the first thing I check for now!

Must be a coincidence. I used to have 2 current accounts and a savings account with LloydsTSB years ago and the account numbers were all different apart from the branch sort code.

The account numbers go up in ascending order per branch so if you opened 2 accounts at same time you have a good chance of getting consecutive numbered accounts.

That's a good point about opening any at the same time. These have all been opened separately over the last 3 years, 4 in the last 6 months.

I've recently opened two TSB accounts, and the both end with the same two digits. My Lloyds accounts are completely different though.

I've recently opened 2 TSB accounts and a Club Lloyds. All have identical last two account numbers (60).
    Strange!!!

The probability of this occurring purely by chance is 1 / 10^7 = 0.0000001 so very unlikely.

Almost all of my 11 Lloyds and TSB current accounts end in 68. The others end in 60, and one rogue one in 28. I think that one was opened in Branch, all the others online.

Just looked at the list of client accounts my employer has with the bank. Out of the 200+ accounts we have, all have the second digit "3".

It's eight accounts now and yes they all end in 68. Every one been opened online. I guess Lloyds/TSB must use these digits as some kind of identifier.
