Hi my daughter has Cerebal palsy from birth.
when we first know we could claim we got given high rate mob & high rate carers.
her money runs out in september & back in may we got her re apply forms which we filled out & sent in. we heard with in weeks that she would no longer get high mob we would get nothing, carers would drop to lowest.
so from £350 down to £70 amonth.
we have appealed & are still waiting weeks later, is this a good sign?
i phoned yesterday to see what is going on & got told it was being looked at that day. i have said her physio is happy to write on her behave but they said we were to wait for the out come.
anyone else had problems when waiting for out come

I assume (as the DWP are looking at it again), that you asked for a reconsideration and not an immediate appeal?
It may again be rejected, so if it is, I would advise you to appeal again and take it to a tribunal (where a lot of DLA claims end up).
Go to the CAB, who will refer you to a welfare rights workers, who will help you with it.
But, you'll have to wait until you get the letter telling you what they have decided, before you can do this.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.

thanks. this is all new to us as the first time we claimed they wrote to her physio & we got the money with out any problem.
when i phoned they said the reason her mob allowance has stopped is because she can't have it again until she is 5. then we can try again for the mob allowance. our question was how can she go from max Mob to nothing at all when she hasn't improved in her walking. she can walk and when i filled the forms out & they ask how far i took a guess which happens to be dead on the amount they class as ok.
she is a twin & can not walk as far as her twin.
oh well at least we can still appeal again with letters from her pyhsio & conts.
thanksDebit.

If a child is under 5 but over the age of 3 they can only get the mobility part of DLA if they qualify for the higher rate. The lower rate is only paid for children over the age of 5. I'd say they consider her mobility needs to only qualify for the lower rate now.0

Im worried about this, my claim for my ds (5) is due soon. At the moment we are on higher rate for both. I hope mine doesn't go down, the mobility definately wont as he has no legs and cannot stand walk nothing on prostesis, but the care part I guess just might.Member & fundraiser for Meningitis Research Foundation0

If you son still needs care above what a child without special needs would need both day and night you should still get the higher rate care.
ps. a great site for parents of kids with special needs https://www.specialkidsintheuk.org0
