i've not had a bill since apr 2006!!!
i've only just noticed!!!
i think it may be something to do with the fact that we changed elecrtic suppliers from eastern electric to b/gas and they changed the meter about a month later. as far as i can see we have only had one bill covering 3 months!!
my husband thought there was something in the papers months ago that some customers were not getting bills, would this be right?
shall i come clean and tell them, or shall i keep quite and just save the money in a seperate account just in case they catch up?
anybody else not had a bill for a few months?

Some ppl dont get a bill for years..................then get hit with a '000 bill !!
Best to come clean as they will only catch you up soon enough !!0 -
Come clean.
They have to give you 14 months to pay the bill.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)0 -
They can only back bill you for 12 months now from 1/7/07.

We bought our house in Sept 06, registered with British Gas for electricity and gas, set up direct debits. The gas direct debit has operated smoothly, but the readings are hopelessly out of date and incorrect, in spite of phoning in new readings. We have never been charged for electricity, never received an account, in spite of repeated calls to British Gas and Energy ombudsman, but get threats of legal action, forced entry to replace our installation with a prepayment meter, etc. etc. addressed to the Occupier. I am desperate to get away from British Gas but am afraid to change in case they bill me with £000's and forward the bill to my new supplier? Help!!!

I had the same trouble when I switched to British Gas. I changed in July 06 and by Christmas, still had not had a bill. Despite repeatedly phoning to ask for a bill, it never arrived.
I paid some on account and BG paid me some compensation having acknowledged it was their fault. The only way I finally received a bill from them - last week - was to change suppliers.
Chase them to bill you - you don't get owt for free.....0 -
This is something they should fix. Try writing with all the dates and any reads you have.
You've been getting bills to the occupier, so if they have accurate readings this is a good guess as to how much your bill will be when they put it in your name.
Were you paying these or keeping the money aside? As once they do get a bill in your name it will be for the whole time you were there.
Devils Advocate - they have been billing the property so could use that to get round the 12 month rule - when you write, mention that you are aware of the rule, ideally provide reads from around a year ago and use these to suggest a reading to start the year from. Thing is, you are the occupier so don't come on too strong.0
