Car insurance - adding a young driver

Options
Any advice please?
My car insurance is up for renewal this month, my renewal quote of £550 includes my 18year old daughter who is due to sit her test in August. If she passes I will have to adjust my car insurance policy and I presume I will be charged £30 admin fee for doing this and the insurance cover for her will be increased.
As she is off to university in Sept and will not have access to a car would it be cheaper to only add her to my car insurance when she's home from uni? And if she passes her test do I have to stick with my current insurer even if I can get a cheaper quote elsewhere?
Hope that makes sense. Advice welcome.

You need to check with your insurer whether or not they will insure her after she passes (some won't cover newly passed 'novices')

And you also need to check if they will allow temp cover just for vacation (which should work out cheaper overall if they do)

If you want to cancel mid term and go elsewhere you can (though no NCD awarded for a part year, and cancellation charges won't be cheap - check what they will be in total before deciding)
