You were the one that made the original statement that you now can't substantiate.

It's a bit rich that you know accuse someone else of failing to substantiate a claim when yours appears to be false and you can provide no evidence in favour of it.

There has simply been an opinion posted that differs to mine and neither side has been substantiated; so I fail to see how that is 'rich‘. Fact remains this is a matter of opinion / experience and your welcome to not agree with it or prove it wrong.

However the overriding lesson to be learnt from this thread is to understand the cost and impact before you make this type of transaction. Surely you can agree with that?

You seem to struggle with understanding basic logic principles.

You: "There are squares that are not rectangles".
I: "No, all squares are rectangles. Prove me wrong, show me a square that isn't a rectangle".
You: "I CBA to check all squares to find a non-rectangle one. You check all squares and prove that my opinion is wrong with the results of your investigation".

The only difference is that the number of CC providers in UK is finite - unlike the number of all squares.
