Tenure - n/a ?

Just done a search on the land registry website on a house i am in the process of buying. Put postcode in and 'tenure - n/a' came up for 4 houses out of the 32 in the street, including the one i am buying. All others were freehold which is what i was told on the property i am buying.
Can anybody shed any light on this? I have printed a SIM form off the website and posted this off so that a manual search can be done.

Has the house been owned by the same people for a long time?

My guess would be that the property hasn't been 'registered' yet. Will only take a few days, I believe.

If not that, I have no idea. It will have some sort of tenure, of course.

Yeh, i think they have been in the house for approximately 40 years and bought it off the original owner!

    That makes sense then!

Mention it to your solicitor as I think there is a form to be filled in or suchlike by the vendors - you don't want it holding things up :)
