Damp Proofing DIY

Hi All,

We have found some damp in our little room under the stairs(pantry type room). It does have two steps going down so slightly below groundlevel. The house is a 1930’s house with a 300mm foundation and cavity walls. Ihave inspected the bricks outside and can’t see a DPC.

Done a bit of reading and I think there are three things I need:

- DCP on external walls.

- Damp Proof membrane on theinternal wall.

- Humidistat controlled fan.

The above materials cost me just under £300.

My question at the moment is …. Do I need the DCP onthe internal walls and if so, at what level should it be applied?

Thanks for any advice

Carl
