New carpet

I have been fortunate in able to get a new wool carpet fitted. Only ever had cheap nylon ones before and not sure how to tackle the fluff
Is it best just to give a gentle vacuum or to put it on full power? I've got a very good vacuum but I've filled three bags in a month already just gently vacuuming every few days

aah yes all that fluff; it does die down eventually, we were told to vacuum every day don't think we did and some rooms that aren't used as much had fluff for a long time. I think just regular gentle vacuums to answer your question. In the heat we still get the animal smell and it has been about 5 years since it was laid!0

Three bags in only a month doesn't sound bad. Our vac is full everytime we vac the new carpet we had laid about 6 weeks ago. When it was new we could only do about half of it, so it is getting better.0

We have had the house fitted out with 80/20 wool mix carpets twice now, most recent being 6 months ago. Fluff will become less and less until you will forget about it. Must say though, never had an animal smell.Charles J0

Aleem I have a very sensitive nose used to be a perfume analyser- husband doesn't seem to notice smell either, I can now smell it on our new linen sofas too especially when door shut for the night.
You're right about forgetting about it, I am sure the OP will get to that stage too, it drove me crazy thinking I was vacuuming my carpet away and then suddenly you realise the fluff has stopped.0 -
You should always vacuum a new carpet regularly from the day it is laid. Fluff will come out of any wool carpet, but the actual amount is very small, although it can look a lot. It will die down over time. I had one carpet that was still shedding fluff four years after it was laid. However, it didn't look or perform any different.0
