Just seen that this thread is from June last year. What did you go for in the end? On a 50cc you can find yourself in a dangerous position with a max speed of 30 mph. You can't get yourself out of situations by giving it a bit extra. Cars might want/push you to the side of the road while you should be in the middle of your lane-ish. It's easier to hold that position on a 125. Is this of any use? http://www.latestfreestuff.co.uk/free-car-stuff/free-1-hour-motorcycle-taster-lesson/

I have had car drivers try to force me to the side of the road on a TL1000r and one of my mates was in Holland riding in a group and had people try and force him to use the cycle lanes in a 250cc large frame Lambretta (despite them being told by the Dutch police not to use them as they were not mopeds).

Never happens when you are wearing a cut off and riding side by side though, funny that.

Welcome (hopefully) to the wonderful world of powered two-wheelers. A 125cc is a good choice because it will allow you to keep up with and even overtake the surrounding traffic on level roads or gentle hills. Do beware if you have any steep hills on 60mph roads because you'll slow right down and potentially come into conflict with the other traffic, increasing the risk to you.
