Interim charges with different supplier

Again, this is all useful info. Now that I know this, I can use it in future.you didn't go through the correct process.
I didn't know the correct process and nothing on FU's website or sign-up process suggested I was doing anything wrong. They appeared to be perfectly happy with the information I provided. If I'd been informed, I would have simply tried to find out who the incumbent supplier was and contacted them to negotiate a reasonable rate for the interim. It really is that simple!
I do not and have never worked for a utility provider. My first home was a new build and my next one (the one in which I currently live) had been unoccupied for 2 years before I purchased it, so this situation has simply never arisen for me before. With every other service (landline, broadband, mobile phone, Sky TV, etc), it is advisable to contact them in advance of your desired activation date to give time for the account to be set up. I made an incorrect assumption that the same policy would apply to this.
I really am running out of ways of saying the same thing now so I hope the above explains once and for all why I reached out to this forum for some help, and also why I'm not the fountain of knowledge you clearly expect me to be on this subject. I'm not going to apologise for trying to be organised with my financial responsibilities and I won't be explaining myself again.Stop whinging
Really? If you read my previous post, I had already accepted the situation, thanked everyone for their advice, confirmed that my questions had been answered, stated what I intended to do next and suggested that the thread could be brought to a close. I had already stopped "whinging", as you so helpfully put it, so if you choose to resurrect the thread with nothing new to add and for no other reason than to have a go, I suggest you look a bit closer to home on the subject of "whinging".
So thanks once again for your advice, but not your judgement and incorrect assumptions. I'm now unsubscribing from this thread and shall think twice before asking for advice on this forum again. Have fun, keyboard warriors! :wave:0
