School Bus Operator to be stripped of license over safety wwyd?

The coach company who operates my daughters school bus are to be stripped of their operating license at the end of July due to safety concerns (faulty doors, illegal tyres, etc). They were also involved in a fatal crash last month where the driver has been arrested, though that wasn't included in the evidence used to strip the company of its license. It's fairly obvious that this date has been set so that County will not have to find a new bus firm at short notice.

I want to ring county transport and ask what they are doing to ensure the safety of the children, but I'm also aware that this is probably causing them masses of extra work. What would others do in this situation?

I wouldn't give a second's thought to the extra work the transport company are experiencing. There is no way on this planet my child would be getting on a bus operated by this company.

I would walk/drive/get public transport to school.

Have I minunderstood the question? Are you asking whether you should continue to send your child(ren) on unsafe transport?

Nothing. It's been picked up, it's being sorted. End of.

To get it in perspective: not all vehicles were dangerous on all routes with all drivers...... the danger was there when it wasn't known, not now.

So your child is expected to keep using the unsafe transport until the end of term?

If so, no way would I let my child on that bus. I would make other arrangements for the rest of term.

Wanted to know if I was over reacting, seems most people think I'm not. Know what I'm doing now. Pity there is no public bus at the right time for her to get instead, will have to drive her in.

Phone them. This is what they are there for. They may have taken some temporary action with immediate effect as well as giving this company notice, they may not have. Until you phone them you won't know.

Take my child to school myself, without a second thought.

Do you have an alternative way to get your child to school for the rest of this academic year keep-flyin?

I'd be phoning county transport. If this company is losing their license then they shouldn't be still on a school contract.

Are they definitely losing their license and not just the schools contract? I would have thought if there were safety concerns the license would be removed/suspended until the concerns were addressed?

As the licence has not been suspended immediately then that indicates that sufficient measures have been put in place in the interim for them to carry on operating.

What has changed from your kids using it last week before you knew about it and now? If anything the transport now will be safer.

I assume that it is Carmel Coaches. If so then it is the traffic commissioner withdrawing the licence for all operations. http://www.plymothiantransit.com/2014/06/carmel-coaches-end.html
