GMAC car finance ppi claim help needed

Hi

I wonder if anyone can advise me. I took out car finance at a Vauxhall agent through GMAC in 2003 and I am pretty sure I was wrongly sold ppi. However the Vauxhall agent no longer exists. Do I go straight through GMAC or contact Vauxhall themselves?

Any advice would be much appreciated

Lindsey

2003 was pre-regulation, so any complaint would likely fall on deaf ears and you cannot refer to the Ombudsman.
Vauxhall will refer you to GMAC.

Ultimately, it would be the dealer not Vauxhall or GMAC - but a 2003 complaint will fail.
  • Thanks for the information, very useful :-)

You can still claim on a 2003 contract. It was pre 2005 FSA regulation but the originating dealer will have professional liability insurance. If they are no longer trading, GMAC are liable for the premium cost plus interest. Ordinarily it would be the insurer however GMAC have precedent for accepting liability on pre 2005 cases where the dealer is no longer trading.
