By searching more, and looking for more jobs, I'd say.

  • No lots of agency tat at the mo, exceptionally high so i think it is tough just now there's a lack of juicy stuff out there, I posted my CV on indeed after adding training I done online and been contacted by an employer (pity we been there before!) at this rate I might just get some time under my belt where I am and hold out, I always seem to spend winter out of work :(

I have my Cv posted on Reed, Total Jobs, Indeed etc and it's annoying when random agencies call you about jobs. I got one yesterday and they wanted me to travel to Minworth, it's an out of the way industrial site and could possibly take 2 hours there and 2 hours back. Another one wanted me to travel to Dudley from Great Barr, her response was "yes but it's only a 20 minute drive", why do they all assume you can drive?

Some of them are just annoying and when they call I just think "oh god not another one". I usually end up adding their number to the spam list on my mobile.

I have just applied for 2 local jobs, one at a pharmacy and one at a Doctors surgery, would be good if I got one of those as virtually no travelling involved!

  • So basically you take umbridge with them contacting you about any job further than a ten minute walk away? How are they supposed to know that you don't drive?

When you put your c.v on to a job site, does it matter if your c.v isn't that good, i.e. has long durations without employment? I am afraid that my c.v. looks like that as I've been out of work due to mental illness/health issues. Would employers/agencies even bother to contact me without a flashy c.v?

Well some people will make up any excuse for not taking a job. Then they usually complain that there aren't any jobs.

    What or who is umbridge?

The Dudley one I couldn't get a word in edgeways but did tell her that I don't drive and didn't want to travel to Dudley. A month later the same agency rang me about the same job and she couldn't remember contacting me before. The Minworth one, I told her straight off that I wasn't a driver, but she did email me the postcode and I checked the transport links and it was just too out of the way.

They must know my postcode as it's on my said CV which is uploaded to the site, but I feel like they just try and offload any old rubbish onto you. (Nothing to do with commission of course!).
