i am looking to change my 2006 Meriva for a similar type of car (just newer)

I have seen a Citroen C3 picasso which looks quite appealing and is, JUST, within my budget of around £10,000.

But what other alternatives are there that i should consider.

I do very little mileage, no commuting, ( my current car has 18000 mls from new) so petrol is the best option.
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow.. :p

18,000 miles.... why waste money on something else? Your just going to lose a packet in depreciation.

Put a private plate on the Meriva - no one will know how old it is then.

    Something similar to a C3..?

Probably cheaper to hire when you need it! Can get a yaris for the day for £22.50 inc insurance at Toyota derby.

Tbf harvey, any car will look interesting after a Vauxhall.

As you have a vauxhall look at the Mokka, should be some demonstrators around in a few months.
  • why a citroen Picasso dodgy gearboxes, expensive electronic sensors to replace when faulty and will go faulty.

Honda Jazz facelift perhaps even a CRV if you wish to bit bigger for access and room.

    Skoda roomster or yeti.

    Hyundai IX20.

Looked into that possibility, but like the convenience of having the car available

Had two Merivas and one CS3 Picasso with another now on order .
Prime reason for buying was the extra front screen visibility .

Touch wood, but in 63,000 miles mine's fine. just google Japanese car faults (and French and german etc) and see that the citroen don't have a monopoly on problems with vehicles

A CRV won't really be that much newer at the £10k mark. If you are looking at SUVs around the £10k mark you might be better off looking at the 4x2s like the Nissan Qashqai or Jeep Compass.

that's ok your within the miles they tend to go yours a diesel? their stronger boxes and don't usually suffer but youll be on the mark for a DMF, DPF and clutch change soon if euro 5 engine, but poor injectors and turbo's, just another 10k-15k and youll hear the almighty gearbox bearing song if you have a petrol.

oh and pre 2011 models have 4 recalls, one for fuel pipe chaffing, one for windscreen trim coming loose one for passenger side possible inadvertent activation of brake pedal one for battery ground cable too short causing engine cut off unexpectedly at any speeds. im sure there was a another I thought the fusebox's in some of these were dodgy causing limp mode.
