                    can anybody help.which is the better processor the Intel Pentium D Processor 925 (3GHz, 800MHz FSB, 4MB Cache) or the Intel® Pentium® Dual-Core E2140 Processor (1.6GHz,800MHz,1MB cache)

I would suggest that the dual core is better processor but it really is horses for course.0

I am typing this on a 1.8 dual core processor and it's grrrrrrrrrreat!0

The Pentium D is also dual core. Of those 2 processors the Pentium D is better (faster) because of its much higher clock speed and larger cache.urbanlegend11 wrote: »can anybody help.which is the better processor the Intel Pentium D Processor 925 (3GHz, 800MHz FSB, 4MB Cache) or the Intel® Pentium® Dual-Core E2140 Processor (1.6GHz,800MHz,1MB cache)0 -
Wrong wrong wrong, although the Pentium D is also dual core and has higher clock speed, but the e2140 is much more efficient. And saves a lot of power.
Imagine two people filling a tank, the pentium D is a big guy, can carry two large bucket of water, and e2140 is a small guy can only carry a small bucket, but much faster time, in ideal situation this can be equa, but in the world of computing, most of the time only small water need to be carried, and due to errors and etc, water sometimes can not be carried over, then have to recarry again, in which case the e2140 is in advantage.
I don't know if you understand all these, sorry about my english.0 -
ok so its debatable which is great because i was comparing two pcs and you have made my mind up for me thanks people0

I would opt for the Pentium D also, the 4mb of cache (2mb per cpu core) will kick the !!!! of anything with less. it isn't all about clock speed when it comes to CPU's the dual core thing has made people realise that but the amount of cache on a CPU makes a huge difference.
Yes the Pentium D is a little more power hungry, in fact I'm not 100% sure but I believe it uses the same 65nanometer technology that the E2140 uses so power consumption should be similar. I would still go for the Pentium D and day.0
