Concealed Shower Fixtures and Valves?

We are renting whilst getting our house renovated. The rental had a (timely) issue with the shower not working. The landlord sorted it out, and we had a good chat with the nice plumber that said that the job ended up costing the landlord £600+ because of the parts used and the way it had been plumbed in previously. It meant that to replace the valve they had to break tiles, etc and the job took longer and it needed a tiler to attend as well to put it right.
So we started talking about our house renovation and plumbing and the plumber (and tiler) both recommended paying for quality e.g. Hansgrohe as the access to change concealed valves is much simpler with their modular system (I think it is called iBox). The same job would have cost £200 inc parts.
The problem is Hansgrohe is not cheap so is there an alternative modular system that allows easy access to the innards of a concealed shower for any future work if ever needed?
Thanks in advance.

I can't comment on the shower itself but I would suggest that you over order on tiles and keep enough spares to use if you need to break tiles for repairs access in the future.
Having spare tiles is a good idea anyway.
Under the bath is a good place to keep them if you have an easily removable bath panel.0 -
Why bother with concealed valves at all! We opted for Triton Satellite showers and all the gubbins is in the loft, shower controls for the shower are all wireless, so if ever it goes wrong you never have to disturb your bathroom just pop up into your loft to fix it.

Regarding spare tiles - yes I aim to do that, though I would likely get a tiler in to replace fitting them them.BoxerfanUK wrote: »Why bother with concealed valves at all! Nice idea - won't have a loft for the gubbins though, so would have to break through the ceiling to access0
