You will still get your free school meals and NHS exemption on this income as well, your annual income would have to be above 15000 for these to stop

Not sure about NHS because in Wales prescriptions are free for everyone, also to get school meals you have to be on income support or JUST child tax credits.

    This is from direct.gov website-

You can get free school meals for your child if you or your partner gets either:
    • Pension Credit Guarantee Credit (the 'guarantee credit element')
    • Income Support
    • Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance
    • Child Tax Credit (but not Working Tax Credit) and have a family income below £14,155, as assessed by HM Revenue & Customs

A quick update for you all i've seen my lone parent advisor and after a calculation i will be £57 a week better off but will lose free school meals and she told me i will also have to pay full rent & council tax which is a bit dissapointing as i was hoping for a bit of help towards it.

Just a bit worried now as lone parent advisor has told me i will get 4 weeks run on with rent & council tax but that sometimes they mess up so cross your fingers for me, and i now have to hope that my tax credits claim is dealt with quickly as i only have the grant of £250 to last me 1 month until pay day so all a bit stressful but still looking forward to my new job although it wont make me a millionaire. :rotfl:

Hi sambo, you might get some help with rent etc, i do.
have a look on your councils website, it gives you a rough estimate of what you will get (if the website has one)
dont worry too much about waiting for the pay day, you will still get tax credits in that time, CTC definately, you might have to wait a couple of weeks for WTC, but i dont think it will be that long.
    Good luck xxx

Thanks astonsmommy i'm off to look on my local council website to have a look as i really think that me paying full rent & council tax is a lot seeing as though i'm only on a low income.
