Climbing roses on screening?

Hi,
I'm planning to grow some climbing roses against a sunny fence, but I also want to put some screening against that particular fence first (I'm thinking 2m high twiggy roll things). Will the screening help or prevent the roses climbing up? I'm guessing they will still need tying in due to their weight...
thanks

I think the roses will be too heavy to tie in. Those twigs aren't strong enough. Can you fix a batten over the screening and tie them to that?0

Good idea. See I want to put the screening on to heighten my fence and also for a smart backdrop. Batons would look quite smart and we could mount between the fence posts. Thanks Reen
