You should just pay the excess to the windscreen replacement coy. Most now have specific repairers that they use so look at your policy & find out who it is. Ring them & book. They need to see policy doc's when finished. I have never been asked in 32 years of driving for claims for a windscreen repair.

I've never disclosed it on mine!

Well your insurance is voidable, lets hope you never have a serious at fault accident which prompts their assessors to go trawling through databases and find inconsistencies in your application.

LOL shut up your talking out your rear!

Its only disclosed when its ask for by the insurer! if its not asked you don't HAVE to disclose, even if they run a claims check on the person and it comes up if they don't ask they cant move the goal posts later on and use it as an excuse to void and even then they would pay out thirdparty by legislation and the insured would have to find funds to repair their own car.

Most policy renewals and new applications ask if you have made any claims in the last five years with a straight yes/no answer required.

with a icon next to it which will give you examples of what you should declare, when ticking yes, it will take you to a screen that asks the type of claim, loss etc, if its not listed then go back and your answer would be no.

Most insurers will frame the question the way Bantex says. It's a catch all question which everything including accidents in hire cars, and accidents in cars which are insured as pool cars (e.g. hire cars, leased cars, company cars etc). Only if the insurer says "sorry we do not count that" will you be let off.

The way the windscreen repairer was posting it's as if he thinks no insurer ever counts windscreen cover as a claim and was probably mis-advising all his customers about it too!

Since that's his beleif it's fair to assume that he may have got insurance and never thought to dislose the windscreen at all. You are assuming he's aware that windscreen claims are ususally a disclosure.

I wasn't assuming nothing, I was in part agreeing with you and displayed why I said he was wrong.

and again Insurers may ask have you made any claims or losses etc, if you click yes and there isn't a description to select from the drop down box for windscreen, radio etc, then the insurer isn't looking to bump premiums based on these type of claims they may put "other" there and in part you should use that to describe your windscreen claim, but again read the INFO box that's provided it will tell you what they consider is a claim and what they don't consider sometimes.
