Mould spores?

If my flat previously had black mould on the walls, but it was treated and there is currently none, am I more likely to get it again due to there still being dormant spores knocking about the place (in the carpets or wherever)?
I understand that if the building is prone to condensation then I'm more likely to get condensation regardless. I'm specifically talking here about whether mould growth would be faster/worse the second time around.
(The underlying question is: ought I to get new carpets, or am I OK keeping the ones that were already here pre-mould?)
Thanks for reading and I hope this is not too stupid a question!
