IVA / moving house

Hi all,

Would appreciate some advice please.

Almost two and a half years into my IVA. I really need to move house, currently live in a flat and the three flights of stairs and no lift are slowly killing me! I have asthma and have had several operations in the last three years following cancer.

I am a housing association tenant and have been applying for a move to a small house. I have been reading my IVA contract and it states I need permission to move house. Do I need to get permission now or once I have been offered a home?

Thanks in advance :)

I would tell your IP now. It won't cause a problem unless the costs you get from the new place (rent, utlities etc) are higher. Or unless you can't afford the moving costs, in which case you couldask for a 6 month payment break from your IVA payments.

Yes tell them straight away, I think this clause applies more to someone who may be buying a house, rather than renting, but cant hurt either way.

I too am in an IVA and when I moved house all I did was just changed address, and then when the yearly review came up, just let them know of any changes to bills or income being received.

My IVA provider is very good and understanding!!
