Thanks I Have Spoken, that sums up my thoughts too - I love colour and everything is just so big and green! I've found some pretty buddleias and fuschias on the crocus website which I would much prefer and I think I won't kill them off too easily........!
So I can just chop these down?0 -
Thank you for the replies, I'm just working out how to post my photos!
I definitely don't want the ivy, I'm sorry to say I've never liked it however irrational that might be
I'll keep taking it up and keep an eye out for shoots. I'll like some bee and butterfly friendly flowers so hopefully will be doing my bit for wildlife.
I'll look up that plant selector and those dwarf ladies thank you
Sorry, to tell you this, but ivy is a very good butterfly and bee plant.0 -

Laurel is very vigorous and will regrow, you'll need to dig out the rootball.0 -

I didn't know that, well if it reshoots and can be kept under control I might see how it goes. I'm replacing the decked and astroturfed back garden with a teeny patio and hopefully turf and more flowers (in time) so hopefully that will up my wildlife points
